Lottie is a proud high femme lesbian with a background in professional zine making, mural painting, art education, and event organization. Despite the ever persistent dread, they are a constantly working to create various works of art, trinkets, and resources for the ButchFemme and Lesbian community. While most of their work centers around lesbianism, transness, and general dykery, they are also known to throw in the frequent rabbit themed merch or macabre motif in their art.

They are deeply involved in their local goth scene, lesbian scene, and creative scene in NYC, both as an attendee/participant but also as an organizer. They work hard to create accessible and Covid-Conscious/masked required spaces throughout the ongoing pandemic, after feeling excluded as someone disabled wishing to participate more in their local scene.

Some of their current/past projects include Beloved Zine (a series of 200+ paged anthologies centered around the beauty of ButchFemme identities/subculture), Lez Night Out (Covid Conscious/Mask Required events for lesbians in NYC), Lavender Market (NYC art markets centering fully lesbian lineups, with priority on lesbians of color, disabled lesbians, and trans lesbians), and Covid Conscious Crafting (a crafting club dedicated to creating accessible spaces for Covid-Conscious creatives). For a more robust list of previous creative projects a la portfolio, you can check out Lottie’s work here!

Lottie is based in Brooklyn, living happily with their beloved butch (Leo) and sweetheart cat (Rosemary). When they’re not starting unnecessarily ambitious new projects, Lottie can be found reading lesbian history books, attending local goth nights, hosting tea parties, writing love letters, tending to their rose garden, visiting cemeteries, leaving lipstick ALL over their butch, and baking heart shaped treats.

Who is Lottie Valiente?

LottieLottieDa is how Lottie Valiente pays their bills. Lottie has been using their art to keep themself afloat since teenage years, relying on expertise in a variety of mediums to keep themself fed and fulfilled. Though they resent the capitalistic grind of monetizing hobbies, they are beyond grateful to be able to pursue their passion somewhat professionally, and are even more grateful there is an audience out there who care enough about their work to make this a reality!

Lottie tends to gravitate towards vintage aesthetics while designing, drawing inspiration from older queer activists and artists when they can, as well as everything from Victorian architecture to antique dolls. They love a touch of gothic flair, and try to slip traces of it into all of their illustrative work when they can— even their lesbian-specific work! Simply put: visually, the goal is always The Lesbian Herstory Archives meets gothic horror.

They specialize in handmade buttons, stickers, prints/cards, zines, patches, keychains/charms, printed tote bags and other accessories, as well as the occasional wittily engraved carabiner(s). Most of this can be found available to purchase right here on this website, but if it’s not, you can always check out Lottie’s table at various local events/markets or browse their goods at various retailers. Or if you’re not local to any of those, you can always message Lottie directly concerning a missing item from the website. :)

The LottieLottieDa lineup has become an immediately recognizable staple in the NYC lesbian vending scene, and is always looking to expand! Lottie has vended everywhere from horror movie screenings to Lesbian Oil Wrestling, from punk music festivals to Dyke Drag Nights. If you have an event you’d like to invite Lottie to come vend at (markets, parties, nightlife events, fundraisers, concerts, etc…) or are interested in selling LottieLottieDa stock at your storefront (wholesale or otherwise!), please feel free to send a message directly here. Collaborations, commissions, and invitations for work/freelancing gigs are always encouraged and appreciated as well!
